OFQUAL Accredited Certificate in TEFL
The OFQUAL Accredited Certificate in TEFL is at LEVEL 5 and consists of 160 hours of study and 8 hours observed teaching practice.
This is a blended course in partnership with London Teacher Training College and consists of 46 hours online and 122 hours in class instruction, including 6 hours of teaching practice.
This class will teach you how to:
Plan lessons effectively.
Teach a variety of skills in a creative and engaging way.
Teach English to Young Learners
Incorporate different resources and materials into your lessons including the use of the latest technology.
The course is designed to equip those who are new to the profession with the skills required to be a successful teacher and also to inspire those who already have some experience.
This Course leads to an OFQUAL accredited TQUK Level 5 Award Certificate in TEFL for successful learners.
The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) regulates qualifications, examinations and assessments in England and vocational qualifications in Northern Ireland.
The course meets the requirements set by the British Council for teachers employed in their accredited schools.
Qualification Number 601/5234/5 on the OFQUAL Register.
What is TQUK?
TQUK is an Awarding Organisation recognised by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) and the Welsh Government.
TQUK offers qualifications on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).
The online element
The first two modules of the course are done online. They cover teaching methodologies and English grammar. You can do these modules in your own time but they must be completed before you start the 4-week face-to-face part of the course as they provide an important foundation. We recommend that you spend 46 hours on this part of the course and that you give yourself at least 2 weeks to complete it. Your work from the online element will be assessed by the same teachers that will teach you on your course. They will be you tutors and will be available to you for support and guidance throughout both the online and classroom element of the course.
The classroom element
This part of the course lasts for 4 weeks. Qualified and experienced teachers will guide you through the teaching process from effective lesson planning to successful execution, so when you come to do your practical teaching assessment you feel confident and prepared. This part of the course will include:
Teaching Receptive Skills (Listening and Reading)
Teaching Productive Skills (Speaking and Writing)
Using Resources, Materials and Aids
Teaching English to Young Learners
Participants should be at least 18 years old and hold:
At least five passes at GCSE or O-Level to include a pass in English
OR equivalent qualification from their own country
OR other qualification in English such as IELTS band 6/TOEFL 600
